Accommodation

Since ESTEMA is located outside Valencia, the vast majority of students prefer to live in the city of Valencia where they can take advantage of everything that a large city has to offer.
ESTEMA does not have accommodation on its campus which is located in the Technology Park (Parque Tecnológico) of Paterna.

Some students prefer to arrange their own accommodation (private student residence in Valencia, live with a Spanish family or share a flat with other students) once they are in Valencia. This, however, can take a great deal of time and patience. To find suitable accommodation (share a flat with other students or live with a local family) students can contact University World once they have been accepted as a student at ESTEMA. This service will find accommodation and also provide the students with other interesting information such as discounts, travel, etc.

If the student prefers to live in a private university residence, they should contact directly: www.galileogalilei.com

Orientation

The International Relations Office organizes an Orientation Program which begins with a session designed to familiarize the students with Valencia and Spanish life in general.

The students are given detailed information about cultural activities, local cuisine, local fiestas and customs, entertainment, places of interest to visit in the area, getting around Valencia and banking. We do everything possible to make the students feel at home in Spain!

Emergency Telephone Number

Valencia has a general emergency telephone number which will connect you directly to any emergency service: 112

Services for International Students

Fundación ESTEMA encourages foreign students to take part in its unique educational system which offers individual attention in a friendly environment.

Our International Relations Office offers continuing support to foreign students in order to make their stay as pleasant as possible and to help them adjust to daily life in Spain. The Coordinator of International Relations is Stan McDaniel.
Before international students arrive to Valencia, they will have previously received instructions on how to get to their accommodation.

Before the classes start international students participate in an orientation program which enables them to become integrated into university life and become familiar with Valencia and its customs.

A useful orientation package is given to students with a map of Valencia, a cultural guide to museums, momuents, etc., nearby places of interest, interesting aspects of the province of Valencia and the Valencian Community, cuisine, sports, local fiestas and more.

Spanish Language Course

NEW STARTING ACADEMIC YEAR 2005-2006: A twenty-hour Spanish for Specific Purposes course will be offered each semester. This special elective course is worth 2 credits or 3 ECTS per semester. The timetable for this course will be confirmed at the beginning of each semester.

Student Life

When international students come to Fundación ESTEMA to study they enjoy the intimacy of a small university and the diversity that the city of Valencia offers. All accommodation is located in the city proper so that students have ample and convenient access to city life when they are not attending university classes.

For students who have a blocked class timetable there is private daily bus transportation from Valencia to Fundación ESTEMA and back. Exchange students who are interested in using the private ESTEMA bus must pay a fee of 85 euros per semester. However, if a student, for any reason, does not have a blocked timetable and attends classes at ESTEMA outside the established school bus hours, the subway may be taken from Valencia to the "Estación de Ademúz" and from there an orange bus is taken to ESTEMA.

Students are assigned a faculty advisor in their major area. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor to discuss course choices and any problems or questions they may have about Fundación ESTEMA.

Our students´convenience and comfort come first at Fundación ESTEMA. Classrooms, academic departments, faculty offices, library, cafeteria and computer lab are all located under one roof.

Valencia´s mild climate is one of the reasons foreign students come here to study.
The Mediterranean atmosphere can always be felt in this city, which like its inhabitants is warm, inviting and hospitable. Students soon discover all that Valencia has to offer: the cultural life, the Mediterranean diet, the craftmanship and the great number of excursions which can be taken within just a few kilometers from the city. Where is Valencia?

Valencia´s ideal location on the coast of Spain between Barcelona and the Costa del Sol makes it a convenient point of departure to other great Spanish cities. It is possible to take weekend trips from Valencia to reach Madrid or Barcelona. The Balearic islands of Ibiza and Mallorca can easily be visited by the numerous boats and ferries which leave daily from Valencia´s port.

International Friend

Foreign students will be asked if they want to be assigned an "amigo internacional" upon their arrival to Valencia. "Amigos internacionales" are Spanish students who will contact you once classes start.

These students will be available for you to ask questions, learn more about our university and about Spanish life and customs in general. This provides an excellent opportunity for you to practice your Spanish language skills.

Health and Hospital Insurance

Students are encouraged to come to Spain with their own health and hospital insurance. A comprehensive health and hospital insurance plan may also be taken out in Valencia (MAPFRE).

Passport and Visa Information

A valid passport is necessary for travel to Spain.

No visa is required for students from the European Community.

Students who come from countries outside the European Community should consult the Spanish Consulate or Embassy nearest you regarding student visas.

You will need a student visa if you will be staying in Spain for more than 3 months. These visas take time, so you must begin the process as soon as possible. You will receive a letter from Fundación ESTEMA confirming your acceptance to the program which will be necessary to obtain the student visa.

Once you arrive in Valencia, you need to take the necessary steps to extend your visa for the duration of the period of study in which you will be enrolled. In the International Relations Office you should request a letter certifying that you are enrolled at Fundación ESTEMA. This letter, along with your passport should be taken to the Police station on Paseo Pechina 2.

You will also need to show proof of medical insurance (original) and financial situation (bank account in Valencia).
